It's been a long time since I blogged

A lot of has happened since I last blogged....food wise. I FINALLY made lasagna, and it was pretty damn good. I made it twice. The first time with basil, beef and 1 bottle of pasta sauce. The second time I made it with pasley, basil, hot Italian sausage, and 2 bottles of pasta cause (it over flowed a little). Both times were good. Here are some photos. (I don't think I have photos of the second one)

I also baked a cake and did pretty well on the frosting too, or at least I think it was pretty good. M—and I had cake for the next few days, it was delicious. M-- asked me, "Did you take a photo of your cake? I don't know why I'm asking. Of course you did!"

I made flan a few more times, but stopped because of all unnecessary sugar.

I made a coconut desert dish, and much much more which I can't remember because I didn't take photos of them. Well, stay tune for more.

Tonight we're having Gobi, yummy.

Flam (flan)

In the events after I attempted my first flan...
Nery bought us some flan...it was okay...after that I kept having the cravings for flan...until last week when Jessica's grandmother made us some flan. It was yummy. Her grandmother's flan made me wonder if I could make a better flan..... IF I followed all or most of the directions. Well, in my opinion it turned out pretty good. Here's what it looked like as a whole.

And here's what it looked like cut into a slice with strawberries. Yummy.

A closer view.

For two small people we sure did eat A LOT of flan. We had it for dinner/desert and the next day we had it for lunch/desert. I'm pretty sure we could have finished it during one meal if we didn't eat so much before the flan.

Banana Cream Pie

So Kim asked me for some recipes....I gave her the recipe to that NY Cheese cake recipe that everyone seemed like. The directions were fucking long.

Then I typed up this banana cream recipe that I used to have on my computer before it crashed....mother fucker. Anyway....I made it only once, but it was good. I got the recipe from a magazine. This guy in NY bakes cookies and shit for celebrities and normal people too. He only gave us his good recipes, not his secret awesome recipes...but this will do.

It taste better than it looks:

Banana Cream Pie

Prep 30 minutes plus chilling and cooling

Bake about 30 minutes

Make 10 servings

1 (9-inch) homemade, frozen, or refrigerated pie shell

Custard

2/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

Pinch of salt

3 cups whole milk

4 large egg yolks, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoons vanilla extract

3 ripe medium bananas

Homemade whipped Cream

1 1/2 cups heavy or whipping cream

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Bake pie shell as directed. Cool.

2. Meanwhile, prepare Custard: in 3- quart saucepan, combine sugar cornstarch, and salt. With wire whisk, beat in milk and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils, stirring constantly; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool 10 minutes.

3. Slice bananas. Arrange half of bananas in bottom of pie shell; spread with half of custard. Repeat with remaining bananas and custard. Press plastic wrap onto surface of custard. Refrigerate pie until custard is set, at least 4 hours or over night.

4. To serve, prepare Homemade Whipped Cream: In medium bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat cream, sugar, and vanilla to stiff peaks. Spread cream over filling.
